About Us
John P. Jones

I developed a deep love and respect for dogs at an early age. My family hadGerman Shepherds throughout my childhood that were my favorite companions. At 13, I got a Siberian Husky named Max. Max lived for 19 years and was a great teacher in my life. After Max passed on, I rescued a German Shepherd named, curiously enough, Max. Max had many challenging issues, but with patience, love, a healthy lifestyle, and training, he too became a wonderful dog. I will forever be indebted to both Max’s. They were the driving inspiration behind my desire to help people do the best they can for their dogs.
I pursued my life’s dream in 1999 to learn more about training dogs and did an apprenticeship with Randy Kromer of Kromerhaus Kennels. It was here that I learned to train dogs at all levels. I have now been a professional dog trainer for eight years. I continue to train owners and their dogs in Obedience and Behavior Modification, AKC Obedience, Schutzhund, Tracking, Search and Rescue, Personal Protection, and Police K-9.
I believe that it is a trainer’s job to save dogs’ lives. Lack of training is the number one killer of dogs. My job as a trainer is to educate owners to effectively communicate with their dogs so they can enjoy their companions as friends and family members.

Although my family did not have dogs growing up, many of my favorite memories as a child include playing with the dogs on my uncles farms. This early sense of companionship with dogs would be strengthened many years later, when I got my first dog Antje, a young German Shepherd dog. From the first day Antje and I shared a very special and close bond. As best friends we did everything we could together.
Antje and I were not without our problems however, where Anjte lacked confidence and had issues other dogs, I also lacked the knowledge of how to help her. This was the first time that I became aware of the important role of training in dog / human relationships, and it quickly became apparent that training was what we both lacked! After several very frustrating months wading through unhelpful or poor advice, Antje and I found ourselves at John's training center. I still remember the feelings of relief and excitement as we learned not only how to overcome the issues we were experiencing but also discovered a whole new realm of things we could do together. More than just friends now we were growing together and becoming a team!
I am ever grateful to Antje for the path she put me on years ago.
As any multiple dog owner can tell you every dog is different though, and it was my second dog Anschi that soon led me to return to work and train with John again. What began as a desire to know how to train my own dogs quickly grew into wanting to work and train dogs in higher levels of competition and work. Along with that came the desire to teach others looking for help in working with their own dogs, as I once was. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a dog and owner work through problems they're facing. I still recognize the feeling of relief and excitement that Antje and I experienced years ago, and believe that every dog/owner team has something more that I can learn from.

Since I was young I knew what a well-trained dog was. My father did an excellent job training our first family dog, Softie, a wonderful and softhearted animal. My father’s dog training provided me with great expectations of the relationships people can have with their dogs.
I got my first dog Monja, a German Shepherd import, in 1998 when she was 12-weeks old. For Monja’s sake, I took it upon myself to understand more about dog training to learn about the different kinds of challenges we could accomplish together.
Tracking has been a highlight in Monja’s training. Monja and I have been tracking for six years. She excels in scent work and we now train in Search and Rescue. Together we are active members of Centre Search and K-9. Tracking is my favorite activity to teach any dog and their owner. I enjoy the intimacy you develop with your dog by working together as a team. There is nothing like it.
I enjoy helping people build strong bonds with their dogs through training, clear communication, and lots of fun!
